I'm a small-town Idaho farm boy who has always held onto big dreams of changing the world. Those dreams started coming to fruition during my time in college. There I had my first opportunity to start, grow and then sell a small business. Using those skills I organized and directed a team in creating my university's first peer mentoring program. That was a lot to tackle with a full course load. But volunteering introduced me to the nonprofit world, and I ended up donating my time to more than 10 of them over that 3-year span. among other things, I painted toys, gathered prepared, and served food and supplies, spoke at events, led multiple teams of over 300 volunteers, helped draft and pass legislation, made visits to the United Nations, and enjoyed a mission experience. It was through all of this that I realized, while the big trips and events were often more glamorous, impacting another person’s life for good on an individual level felt more meaningful. Handing a water bottle to a stranger or sharing perspective with a discouraged volunteer or holding the hand of someone who didn't have anyone else. After completing my undergrad and an intensive top 10 internship with a Fortune 100 company, I continued to pursue this career as a financial advisor. And I can now tell you that I feel like I am living my dream every day. The work with nonprofits has continued as I now sit on multiple boards and committees, donate time as a consultant, and volunteer at events. My wife and I started our little family in 2021 and I enjoy spending time with my wife, our new son, and our daughter more than anything. I still make time for outdoor rock climbing, lifting heaving things at the gym, sonic runs, skiing, grilling delicious meat, and occasionally reading a good book. And I still somehow try to sleep 8 hours a night.
