Make Money on Your Phone Shopping

One of the best ideas to make money on your phone is by doing something you do every day: shopping. There are many apps for your phone that will pay you to purchase products at your favorite stores. Since we all need groceries, shampoo, clothes, etc. why not get paid for it?

1. Ibotta

This app pays you to go grocery shopping. It allows you to earn cash back on things you buy anyways. Here’s how it works:

  1. Before you head to the store, open the app and complete a few tasks to find offers for your favorite products and brands.
  2. Next, head to the store and purchase items you selected in the app.
  3. Once you’re done, take a picture of your receipt to redeem the offers you selected.

You can cash out via PayPal every time you earn at least $5. Ibotta lists new deals all the time – and a lot of the items are probably already on your list!

2. Swagbucks

Another app to help you make money on your phone is Swagbucks. This company has been around for a while and pays out over 6000 gift cards daily to its members. You might earn points, or “SB,” for shopping as usual online and by using the mobile app. There are many different ways to earn these points.

All you need to earn points is shop, answer surveys, watch movie trailers, or answer the daily poll on the app. These points let you earn free gift cards from Target, Amazon, Best Buy, and many other places. Not bad for doing what you might already do especially when combined with other loyalty and rewards programs.

3. Shopkick

Shopkick pays you for spending time in certain stores you probably already shop at. You don’t even need to actually buy anything from the stores to benefit from Shopkick. All you need to do is scan barcodes to get points you can redeem as gift cards to your favorite stores. You won’t get direct cashback with Shopkick, but it is still a great way to make money on your phone.

Make Money on Your Phone Selling Your Stuff

Another one of the best ways to make money on your phone is by selling your own stuff that you don’t use anymore. How much you make depends largely on your items’ quality, plus the cost to ship them. Some apps that can help you with this are:

1. Poshmark

As we’ve mentioned in a previous article, Poshmark is a great way to make money on your phone selling your own stuff. After creating an account, take pictures of designer and brand-name items and immediately post them for sale. Poshmark is an easy way to make money if you’re trying to sell your clothing.

Poshmark keeps 20% of the selling price and the rest is yours. It is also a marketplace where you can buy and sell, so you may even find a great deal for up to 70% off. If you want more steps about how to get started check out our article about Poshmark.

2. letgo

Another way to sell your stuff and make money on your phone is through letgo. This is a “mobile Craigslist” of sorts, a community where you can buy and sell used items. Sellers keep 100% of the sale and there are no shipping fees since exchanges are made in-person. (Since this platform promotes in-person exchanges, you might want to check out their safety guidelines to keep yourself out of harm’s way.)

3. eBay

One of the oldest ways to make money on your phone is through eBay. Since eBay’s mobile selling platform has greatly advanced since the early years all you need to do is sign up for an account, post items for sale, and wait for customers to bid. Simple, fast, easy to use, and an effective way to clean out your home and get rid of all that stuff you don’t use. There’s also the eBay valet service, where (for a fee) they do all the work for you for a percentage of the sale.

Play Games

If playing games on your phone is your thing, why don’t you try to make money that way? Mobile gaming has been rapidly increasing recently and it wouldn’t be such a bad way to make money on your phone.

Qriket is one such app that pays you to play. With this app, all you do is spin a wheel to win money. You pick a color and spin. The prizes are anywhere from 5 cents to $10 a spin. You can cash out with PayPal cash after you reach $25. Qriket has QriketLive events where you can earn real-time cash prizes up to $100.

Make Money on Your Phone through Other Side-Hustles

To be completely honest, many of the apps that you will download aren’t going to provide you big bucks. So, another final way to make money on your phone is through other side hustles. Here are a few ideas to help you make the most of your smartphone.

1. Uber/Lyft

One great idea to make money on your phone is driving for ride-sharing service such as Uber or Lyft. This obviously depends on where you live and the times you drive but it is possible to make some good money. You could earn a few hundred bucks driving people around town during a festival, for instance.

Plan out your availability to coincide with special events, airline departures and arrivals, and weekend bar crawls. You might be able to make a solid part-time income. Keep in mind that gas and wear and tear on your car will eat into your profits.

2. GrubHub

A great way to make money on your phone is by delivering food with Grubhub. Especially with COVID-19 still around it is a great way to make money and support your local restaurants. You can create a schedule that makes sense for you, allowing you to work when it’s most convenient.

Manage your pickups and deliveries from your phone. You get to keep 100% of the tips you receive on top of typical wages. Grubhub bases your pay on your location and the market.

A Final Word on How to Make Money on Your Phone

There are numerous ways to make money on your phone so it’s definitely possible. However, manage your expectations since many of these options will take a while to make the big bucks. As with other ways to make money online, these are all side-hustles and won’t necessarily give you a platform to live off of.
